The woman pictured is Anna Kaskas (January 4, 1909 - March 19, 1998) was an American mezzo-soprano and contralto. Her parents came from Lithuania. In 1936 she joined to the Metropolitan Opera. During the opera career (1936-50) she established herself as popular member of the New York Opera. She performed in 52 contralto and mezzo-soprano roles. Then she devoted herself to teaching. She judged various competitions.
