1967 Plymouth GTX Convertible

Historic Overview:

    Plymouth introduced for the 1967 range its very first genuine performance model having the mid-size Belvedere model as base.

    The brand-new GTX was not only supposed to be a performance machine, but also a luxury ride. On the exterior there was a sporty treatment in order to differentiate it in comparison to the other Belvedere models, on the other hand the big difference was under the hood with an exclusive 440 Super Commando engine capable of 375 gross HP.

    If you weren't satisfied, the optinal engine was the 426 Hemi (available at $546 and chosen only by 720 buyers), debuting in street cars and officially rated at 425 gross HP, although even the optional front disk brakes didn't seem enough to hold some much power. The interior was fully packed with luxury, featuring front bucket seats, embossed vinyl, and lots of brightwork.

   A limited race version was even available, called "Super Stock" or by the code R023, but it wasn't even advertised, remaining exclusive just for serious racers. It had no hubcaps, radio, heater, body insulation, and other items considered futile in order to save weight, and it feature the 426 Hemi engine with some modifications in order to improve even more the performance. Only 55 Super Stock cars were made, making them very rare nowadays.
